Yoga Positions: 29 Breathtakingly beautiful positions for the mind, body & soul

Yoga is known for its many benefits including an effective tool to help you lose weight, especially the more active forms of yoga. And you may find that the awareness gained through a gentle, relaxing yoga practice helps you to lose weight as well. It has been practiced and studied by yoga enthusiasts worldwide and has been integrated into various aspects of life as a result. One of yoga's most popular features is its wide variety of postures (or "asanas"). The positions can be done in any order or combination to provide an individual with a unique yoga practice that suits their needs.

 Here are nine yoga poses you should try!

Sirasana - In Sirasana, the practitioner lies in the back with their head resting on the mat and yoga blocks for support. This position stretches the entire body, especially in a spine that is otherwise too curved or tilted to be comfortable.

Savasana - Savasana- One of yoga's most important poses, Savasana allows individuals to experience total relaxation while also giving them time to explore what feelings they are having about other aspects of life. It can take anywhere from 20 minutes to one hour, depending on how much movement is being practiced.

Halasana - Halasana or Plow Pose is a yoga posture where you twist the torso towards one side and extend legs over your head. The benefits include flexibility for shoulders, the release of neck stiffness, stimulation of internal organs such as the thyroid gland, heart rate increase due to pumping more blood pressure through the system with each movement made from this pose.

Salamba Sarvangasana - Salamba Sarvangasana (supported shoulder stand). This yoga position stretches all muscles in your back, strengthens and lengthens the spine, tones abdominal organs such as the stomach and kidneys, which aids digestion.

Baddha Konasana - Baddha Konasana provides an excellent toning workout for abdominal organs, including the stomach and intestines. Using gravity help stimulate the elimination process through massage-like movements.

Matyasana- Matsyasana is also known as Fish Pose. It is an inversion yoga position and stretching yoga pose that stretches the spine, balance muscles of feet and leg's hip flexors.

Bhujangasana - Bhujangasana (Cobra) strengthens back and abdominal muscles while lengthening your chest area. It also helps to expand lungs, improve breathing capacity, and provide increased circulation to the upper body, promoting relaxation.

Salabhasana:- Locust pose, a prominent and well-used yoga position, strengthens the back and abdominal muscles while stretching the torso. It is also used to help relieve pain in people with sciatica.

Bharadvajasana: - Bharadvaja or "The Royal Pose" yoga posture stretches chest area, hip flexors, thighs, and spine. It's one of the best yoga positions for opening up your hips, allowing you to deepen your breathing.

Padahastasanas:- A yoga poses that strengthens legs, arms, and core while providing a stretch in the spinal column.

Supported Vrikshasana:- This yoga pose requires concentration. However, it has many benefits, such as improving the flexibility of hamstrings by taking weight off feet. 

Virabhadrasana:- Virbhadrasana helps to strengthen the arms, back, and legs. It is also helpful in abdominal toning muscles

Viparita Karani:- This yoga pose helps to promote blood circulation throughout the body, improves flexibility of hips, spine, and neck while strengthening the core

Baddha Konasana: - Baddha Konasana or "Bound Angle" yoga posture promotes relaxation by restoring a sense of calmness and serenity

Standing Poses:- Some standing postures are Utkatasana (chair), Lunge Pose, warrior pose, tree pose, and chaturanga dandasana ( yoga push-ups)

Chakra:- Chakra is the energy center in our body which can be opened with yoga. There are seven major ones

Nadi Shodhana:- The yoga practice of Nadi shodhanay seeks to balance the left and right hemispheres of your brain by alternating breathing through each nostril

Surya Namaskara: - This yoga poses consists of 12 different movements or "Asanas" that warm up our entire body from head to toe. It helps promote flexibility as well as an increased sense of vitality.

Dhanurasana:- Aka known as the Bow  yoga pose, this yoga position is a gentle inversion that requires less strength and can be performed by beginners

Mountain Pose: - This yoga pose will help to improve your balance as well as helps you calm down from stress. It also strengthens our legs and glutes while it increases the stability of core muscles

Savasana:- A yoga positions where we are lying on our back with feet flat on the floor, palms face up next to your favorite side of neck or head

Ardha Matsyendrasana - Half Fish King pose,  yoga position is a yoga pose that will strengthen your pelvis and help you with back pain. It also opens up the lower body

Garudasana:- Aka is known as Eagle's Posture, which increases our balance levels. At the same time, it stretches the whole of the front side of our body from toes to fingertips. The yoga positions improve wrist strength and stability

Ustrasana- Yoga posture where we are upside down on a chair or sofa. These yoga postures can be found in both Hatha yoga as well as Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga

Parshva Mukha Svanasana- aka known as Reverse Table Top stretches. This Yoga position will help you in yoga practice if you are at the intermediate yoga level.

Shalabasana- yoga position which stretches our hamstrings and lowers back in a way that it can also be used as a restorative yoga pose

Jathara Parivartanasana: - aka known as 'Seated Twist Pose' is one of those yoga poses to increase mental health, the flexibility of spine & shoulders, release tension from your torso while stretching out your legs

Bhujangasana:- This Yoga posture will help you with hip pain and improve strength in all knee joints. It is an excellent yoga position for beginners who want to get into yoga but may have some physical restrictions or limitations.

Kakasana - The Crow Position will help yoga beginners learn yoga to be ready to explore other yoga positions. This yoga posture will increase upper body strength and flexibility of the spine while also stretching your quadriceps, hips, hamstrings & knees

Yoga Asana will help you in every way, whether it be helping with your posture, breathing pattern, and spine flexibility; yoga also helps release tension from your torso, leading to a complete transformation in how one feels!

It doesn't matter what level of yoga practitioner you are. However, these Yoga asanas will enhance your current practice & make you feel accomplished. Whether on a day-to-day basis or during special occasions where stress has taken over. These yoga asanas not only work wonders for mental health, but they improve overall well-being.

You may also want to combine it with massage. Massage is a big part of holistic wellbeing and compliments yoga practice very well, but this is of course optional.
